15-5 PH Hex & Heavy Hex Bolts
Engineered for high-pressure valve bodies, structural spaceframes, and offshore risers. Hot-headed with uniform grain flow through the head-to-shank junction.
TorqBolt Inc. engineers, hot-forges, and CNC-machines high-integrity 15-5 PH stainless steel fasteners (UNS S15500, XM-12, AMS 5659, ASTM A564) tailored for mission-critical mechanical systems where standard austenitic grades and conventional 17-4 PH precipitation-hardening alloys risk directional fracture.
Originating from our production facility in Rajkot, Gujarat, and global corporate headquarters in Mumbai, India, TorqBolt manufactures precision-engineered 15-5 PH hex bolts, heavy hex studs, 12-point socket bolts, engineered nuts, and through-hardened washers. Utilizing primary Vacuum Arc Remelted (VAR) billets, our 15-5 PH fasteners eliminate continuous delta-ferrite networks, conferring isotropic mechanical properties, exceptional short-transverse fracture toughness, and superior high-pressure fatigue performance under severe cyclic stress.
Every fastener is serialized, heat-treated in calibrated vacuum furnaces, and delivered with dual certification to EN 10204 3.1 as standard, with third-party witnessing (Lloyds, DNV, TUV, Bureau Veritas) to EN 10204 3.2 available for demanding offshore and aerospace installations.
Manufactured to rigid tolerance envelopes under ASME B18.2.1, DIN 931/933, ISO 4014/4017, and customized project blueprints. Each design optimizes mechanical stress dispersion across mating surfaces.
Engineered for high-pressure valve bodies, structural spaceframes, and offshore risers. Hot-headed with uniform grain flow through the head-to-shank junction.
Continuous-threaded, double-ended, and engineered tap-end stud bolts for ASME B16.5 and API 6A pressure containment joints requiring zero creep elongation.
Precision-tapped internally to unified UN/UNF and metric pitch classes (Class 2B/3B, 6H) designed to prevent galling while matching mating bolt proof load.
Through-hardened via controlled precipitation aging to distribute high clamping preloads without dishing, galling, or embedment under dynamic vibration.
Engineers often evaluate 15-5 PH and 17-4 PH solely by tensile values. However, 15-5 PH is a modified, remelted alloy intentionally developed to overcome the fundamental structural weaknesses of 17-4 PH in heavy section bolting.
Conventional 17-4 PH (UNS S17400) typically contains microscopic stringers of delta-ferrite formed during ingot cooling. While longitudinal tensile strength remains high, delta-ferrite segregation drastically degrades transverse ductility and transverse fracture toughness in fasteners larger than 1.5 inches in diameter.
By contrast, 15-5 PH is produced through consumable-electrode Vacuum Arc Remelting (VAR) or Electro-Slag Remelting (ESR). This process drastically lowers carbon and sulfur, maintaining delta-ferrite levels virtually at zero. The result is a clean martensitic microstructure with copper-rich precipitates that yields isotropic toughness, ensuring bolts can handle severe shear and complex bending moments without sudden brittle cleavage.
The aging temperature directly dictates the hardness, tensile strength, and impact resistance of 15-5 PH fasteners. TorqBolt validates all precipitation-hardening cycles via internal hardness testing and Charpy V-notch verification:

Global procurement teams are adapting to stricter material specifications, evolving space-commercialization standards, and advanced digital validation frameworks.
As commercial aviation and advanced air mobility (AAM) prioritize lightened multi-axis flight control systems, 15-5 PH fasteners replace heavier nickel superalloys at temperatures up to 316°C (600°F).
Overaged 15-5 PH (Conditions H1150 and H1150-M) is surging in high-pressure oilfield manifolds where contractors balance lower galling tendencies with sulfide stress cracking (SSC) compliance.
Standard cutting methods induce notch stress. The modern procurement trend demands thread rolling performed exclusively after solution treating and precipitation aging, generating residual surface compression.
Procurement teams now reject generic air-melt certificates. Real-time digital documentation verifying secondary vacuum arc remelting chemistry has become an explicit bidding prerequisite.
Precipitation-hardening stainless steel requires tight thermodynamic control during forming to prevent hot shortness and crack initiation. TorqBolt maintains complete manufacturing governance in-house.
Optical pyrometer-controlled hot forging precisely maintains 1050°C-1150°C to preserve unbroken continuous grain boundaries along the bolt head and body transition.
Furnaces operating under inert nitrogen or high vacuum eliminate surface decarburization, ensuring copper phase precipitation without creating embrittled surface skins.
Tight shanks, complex landing radii, and close-tolerance aerospace configurations are turned using rigid carbide tooling under synchronized flood cooling.
Cylindrical and flat-die rolling burnishes the root radius, creating fatigue-resistant compressive residual stresses superior to machine-cut thread profiles.

Although 15-5 PH boasts inherent passivity in atmospheric conditions, severe chemical, marine, and high-cycle industrial applications benefit from engineered surface treatments.
All TorqBolt 15-5 PH fasteners undergo ultrasonic cleaning followed by citric or nitric acid bath passivation in accordance with ASTM A967 and AMS 2700. This process depletes free exogenous iron from machined surfaces, promoting instantaneous chromium oxide barrier film development and guarding against pinhole pitting in humid atmospheres.
Precipitation-hardened alloys can experience thread galling during high torque make-up. We apply friction-controlling dry films and sacrificial coatings:
